Contract gives carrier suite of marketing promotion and technology development opportunities

Memphis, Tenn. - (June 14, 2013) – The Memphis Grizzlies and C Spire Wireless, the only U.S. wireless provider that offers consumers and businesses a suite of personalized services, today announced a multi-year extension of an agreement involving the NBA Western Conference team and FedExForum.

As part of the agreement, the Memphis Grizzlies will continue its relationship with C Spire Wireless as the official wireless partner of the professional basketball team and FedExForum and offer the carrier a suite of category rights for marketing promotion and technology development.

“We’re excited to continue and expand our relationship with C Spire,” said Chad Bolen, vice president of Corporate Partnerships Sales and Service for the Grizzlies, who are coming off the most successful season in franchise history with a 56-26 overall record and a berth in the Western Conference Finals. “Their personalized wireless program, along with the unique offers and incentives we can both share with each other’s customers, will further enhance our brands in Memphis and integrate well with our regional efforts.”

The agreement gives C Spire marketing and promotional rights through the Grizzlies’ 2015-16 season. Some of the areas the company intends to pursue as part of the sponsorship include specialized mobile applications and other interactive consumer and fan engagement initiatives, according to Jim Richmond, vice president of Corporate Communications for C Spire Wireless.

During the recently concluded 2012-2013 season, the carrier and the team used Mobivity, an award-winning mobile marketing technologies and solutions provider, to introduce unique fan engagement initiatives, including in-game real time text and picture messaging, social media and picture-to-screen engagement for games at the FedExForum.

“Memphis is an important market with passionate sports fans and this gives us a great venue to showcase the reliability, coverage and speed of our nationwide network and our industry-first suite of personalized wireless, voice, data and Internet services for consumers and businesses,” Richmond said. “As a technology leader, we’re delighted to continue our affiliation with the Memphis Grizzlies and FedExForum – two leaders in Tennessee professional sports and entertainment.”

Memphis business leaders lauded C Spire Wireless for its continued investment in the future of the Memphis Grizzlies and FedExForum. “This is great news for Memphis and a strong indication that our efforts to boost the community’s positive image are continuing to pay dividends,” said Kevin Kane, president and CEO of the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau.

“We’re pleased a company the caliber of C Spire Wireless is continuing to bring its cutting-edge innovation and technology to one of the Mid-South’s premiere sports and entertainment venues,” said John Moore, president and CEO of the 2,300-member Greater Memphis Chamber.
